HOW TO FIND THE PERFECT DJ!

As a venue owner we see all types of DJS; great DJs, party DJs, DJs that talk to much and DJs that don’t have any announcements skills. We have seen it all! Here a some tips for finding a great DJ to where you will not have to worry on your wedding day.

First, make sure your DJ's set up is esthetically pleasing. Your DJ is  next to your dance floor and is one of many focal points of your reception.

When booking your services, make sure your Dj includes set up for ceremony and reception. Especially when your ceremony and reception are in two different areas of your venue or at two different locations! Some charge an extra fee or have different packages to do one or the other or to do both.

I cannot preach enough how important good announcements are. Your announcements are what keeps your reception flowing and on time. They are the difference between chaos and an organized event.

Communication from all your vendors is so important! But communication to your DJ is as equally important. You have a vision for your first dance? Your Dj needs to know. You have something special planned like bouquet dedication, a speech, a fun surprise dance to shock all your guest? Your DJ needs to know all the details to execute your vision! Also, communicate your likes and dislikes in music, whether you’re rated G or PG13! You don’t want looks and a phone call from your grandmother afterwards!

Ask what all services they offer. Lighting, cold spark boxes, and photo booths are all pretty common DJ add ons to give an extra special touch to your receptions!
